My story.
Having grown up on the Isle of Wight, I have always had a passion for the outdoors and a love for the seaside.
Being an ‘outdoorsy’ person, but also enjoying art and design, I chose to study Garden Design at college and have run my own garden business since graduating in 2013.
One day, after the Island had received some stormy weather, I headed down to my local beach for a walk and noticed a lot of washed up driftwood. I started to collect it, but wasn’t really sure what to do with it. Once the wood had dried, I experimented with creating candle holders and planters for local art fairs.
After collecting some larger pieces I realised painting on the driftwood would also be possible. I experimented using acrylics to create seascapes, and loved the texture and uniqueness of each piece of driftwood.
My overall goal is to have fun and express myself through my artwork. I have a real passion for being creative and experimenting with designs, and if other people can also enjoy the work that I create then that's amazing!
Being able to walk my favourite beaches on the Isle of Wight everyday is such a special thing, and for me to be able to do my bit in keeping them clear of debris and plastics is very important to me. The amount of plastic I clear up on my walks is really quite scary. It may be a global issue, but I feel like if we all do a little bit to help keep our coastlines clear it can make a real difference. Let's protect our beaches!
